MCP of China!

At 1:51am I received an email from James Parham, to let me know AIESEC Mainland of China had a new MCP. Brings forward all sorts of memories of car park bookings, international calls, stars and Filipino resturants.
Congrats Vince!

Gatekept.

One of the pieces of advice I was given as a newbie ICXer was that I should make nice with any manager’s assistant that I have to deal with.

I’ve recently discovered a whole new world; that of the Executive Assistant. These people have got to be the best networked group I’ve ever, ever come into contact with. Today, came a new development in the form of an invitation to the ‘The Executive Assistant and PA Congress 2007’.

That’s right. An entire congress.

There’s a whole list of speakers and facilitators, and all their titles end in something similar to the following:

- PA to the Chairman
- EA to the Chairman and CEO
- EA to the Managing Director
- PA to the Chief of Staff

The keynote speaker is Bill Clinton’s Personal Secretary during his term. Very cool actually.

Some of the sessions are:
- ‘Being in two places at once’
- ‘I only have two hands! Tips to managing and juggling multiple tasks and priorities’
- ‘How to transition from Administration to Partner’

I so want to go to those sessions…

Lessons.

A few weeks after I received my license, I learned an important lesson, after a 360° and a close call with a power pole:

Car + gravel = no traction

Today’s weather offered a second, similarly important lesson.

Car + rain = aquaplane
